
HIGH SCHOOL CURRICULUM:
Carolina International School will offer the College/University Prep pathway for its high school curriculum. In addition to the prerequisites of North Carolina for College/University Prep credits, CIS requires all students to:
- Receive 4 credits of Foreign Language (Chinese or Spanish)
- Receive 4 credits in Social Studies
- Receive 4 credits in Science
- Receive a total of 2 credits of PE/Health
- Receive a total of 2 credits in Fine Arts
- Receive 1 credit in Research Methods
- Receive 1 credit in Community Action Projects (Internships)
These courses align with the mission and vision of our school. It will allow students to graduate with an introduction to different assets of instruction academic, physical fitness and the fine arts.
Carolina International School will offer College Preparatory and Honors level courses based on enrollment each year.
Carolina International School will implement a traditional, high school schedule. This means that students will not participate in block scheduling.

All courses are contingent of enrollment for the course, availability of a qualified instructor and availability of required facilities.
General Information:
9th grade students will participate in 7 classes a day. The school day will begin officially at 8:30 AM and end at 3:27 PM.
Each class will be 50 minutes long.
All 9th grade students will request a Big Buddy/Mentor at the beginning of the school year. The student will select an adult on campus to serve as their mentor. Mentors will create opportunities to check on their 9th grader and assist him/her whenever needed.
Grades 7 9 make up our Junior High School at Carolina International School. Therefore, 9th grade students will graduate at our school for junior high school. In order to celebrate this rite of passage, all 9th grade students will apply for a working passport and receive the passport with their diploma at graduation.
In addition to 9th grade students receiving their passports, CIS hopes to provide an international trip to their sister city, Killarney, Ireland during the summer of 2007.
Students will have 3 minutes between classes to use the restroom and report to their next class.
All students will participate in a 10 minute homeroom daily and a 10 minute stretch.
