CARPOOL POINTERS—

TO KEEP US OFF HICKORY RIDGE ROAD

You often hear us emphasize “Safety First” on our campus. This is a shared responsibility of everyone in our community, including parents/guardians.

 

One of the most important ways you can help is to do everything possible to avoid backups onto Hickory Ridge Road. Here are some requests from our side:

 

  1. COME LATER. Cars that arrive at 3:45 or 3:50 have less wait time.
  2. TIGHTEN UP. Please pull as close as possible to the car in front of you in the carpool line.
  3. PULL UP. Please pull ALL THE WAY forward in the carpool line to allow cars behind you.
  4. HANG UP. We do not allow cell phone use in the pick-up area. Please give our students your full attention!
  5. STAY IN YOUR CAR. Please do not park and walk up the driveway, especially after 3pm.

 

VOLLEYBALL SEASON OPENS

Our 1st volleyball game will be away on Tuesday, August 29th at St. Michael's Catholic Church.  We are excited and look forward to a year of growth and team development.  Our volleyball team members are: Kayla Rhodes, Sarah Halperin, Abby Lamb, Kimberlee Robinson, Katie Freeman, Brittany Grindstaff, Summer Blackwelder, Victoria Waren, Lauren Halperin, Joyce Bryer and Jessica Hall.  Congratulations girls and good luck!!  COMETS SOAR!

 

DRESS POLO SHIRT NOW AVAILABLE;

P.E. UNIFORM ORDERS—UPDATE

P.E. uniform and “special occasion” dress polo shirt orders can be submitted until the 10th of each month.  You should have your uniforms by the 1st of the following month, at the latest.  After the 10th, all orders received will be placed the following month. For example, place your order by Sept 10 and receive by 1st of October.  There will be an extremely limited inventory available for emergencies only, so it is CRITICAL that you get your orders placed before the 10th of each month.  It is advised that you place your order for winter wear items before the October deadline so that we can insure you have them before the holiday craziness sets in. SOCCER SEASON BEGINS THURSDAY

Our Comets soccer team (coed, grades 5-8) open their season on Thursday versus St. Michaels. Earl King is Head Coach. The next game is Thursday, September 7th at Metrolina. We hope to host our first home game on our new athletic field on September 21st.

WOW! I would like to thank all the parents/guardians that have already signed up for one of our Service Teams. The response has been phenomenal and I thank you very much! Our school thrives when our parents/guardians get involved. If you have not had the opportunity to join a Service Team, it is not too late! * Proctors needed September 5th – 8th from

  9am – 12pm for the Grade 3 Pretest

 

* Hot Lunch volunteers beginning September

  1st from 11:15am until 12:30pm.

 

Treasure Box Fridays are coming! Beginning this Friday, all volunteers are welcome to stop by my office where they will find a “treasure” waiting for them.

 

Coffee, Anyone???

Join other CIS families at Jackson’s Java on Friday mornings after drop-off. Jackson’s Java is located in the shopping center on the left as you go south on Hwy 49/University Blvd just before the WT Harris overpass. It is a large coffee shop with a kid’s corner and our families are welcome to meet there on a regular basis. This is a great opportunity to get to know other CIS families. Feel free to bring a book, craft project, or just come, relax, and chat. Children are welcome! Hope to see you on Friday!
