The CIS Board has four committees that meet once or twice a month.Their meetings (in Dr. Beall’s office) are by law open to the public, but observers are not part of the proceedings.
Academic Standards: 2nd and 4th Mondays, 5pm.
Buildings & Grounds: 1st Monday, 6:30pm.

Finance: 1st Wednesday, 6:30pm.
THANKS, CHEERLEADERS!
We want to thanks our cheerleaders for the donation drive for orphaned puppies: food, collars, and bleach. Great job!!
UNC-C
INTERNATIONAL GUESTS
Many of our CIS students looked through another window to the world on Thursday, when 11 UNC-C students from Saudi Arabia, South Korea, Turkey, Mali, Mexico, Columbia, and Morocco visited classes. They are studying English and having attained Level 6 (of 7 levels) they had prepared presentations about their home countries. Many had PowerPoint slides to show, and the representative from Mexico brought a large ball of dough to show students how to make tortillas!
Although the student from Turkey had a hard time convincing the 2nd graders “that Turkey is not a turkey!” and the Kindergarteners initially thought every Saudi student road a camel to school, everyone learned from their guests and the UNC-C raved about our students. When asked what was the most surprising question from the 3rd graders, the college student said, “What is the archeology in Mali? I know the word ‘archeology’ but I wasn’t prepared to hear it from a 3rd grader!”
First
grade students learned a traditional South Korean board game.
DRAMA MEETS THIS WEEK
