Scrip Gift Card Fund Raising- The PTSO just kicked off a very exciting new fund raising program with Scrip gift cards. We had a few orders this week, but expect the orders to increase quickly as the holidays draw closer and our community realizes the benefits the program will have for our school. We are looking for volunteers on Mondays and Fridays to help organize the orders and deliver the cards at car pool on Fridays. Please contact Beth at thompsonpeaceb@ciscomets.org if you are interested in volunteering. Thank you! J
Yearbook Committee
A committee is currently being formed for the 2006-2007 CIS yearbook. We are looking for parent volunteers and student volunteers in grades 5th through 9th. If you are interested, please contact Beth Thompson-Peace at thompsonpeaceb@ciscomets.org or call 704-455-3847 ext 5543.
Small Pieces of Wood Furniture Needed
Mrs. Bruns, our art teacher, will be working with her students to custom paint small pieces of wood furniture to be auctioned off at the Winter Bazaar on December 9, 2006. We have received a few items, but are still looking for donations. If you would like to donate an item, please contact Mrs. Bruns at 704-455-3847 ext 5523 or brunsl@ciscomets.org.
Volunteer Time Sheets
I would like to thank all the volunteers that have turned in a time sheet for October. If you volunteered outside of school hours and need a time sheet, please stop by my office to pick one up. Don’t forget that you will earn at least one hour a month by attending the PTSO meeting. I have added everyone’s hour for the October Meeting. Great job volunteers! Our school appreciates your support!
PE Uniform/Polo Shirt Uniform Orders If you placed an order for either PE Uniforms or Polo Shirts before Oct 10th, we will have a uniform sort on November 16th. Please do not expect your uniforms before that time. If you placed an order after Oct 10th your order won't be in until at least Dec 10th as it takes at least 30 days to turn the orders around from the time I place the order, not from when you placed the order in my envelope. I hope this will clarify things for all of you.
If you anticipate the need for items please don't wait until the last minute. We do not have any inventory to help you out at the last minute. January 1st is the deadline for all uniform shorts and sweatpants to have the Comets logo on them. I would not wait any longer to place your order if you anticipate needing these items. Please, place your order by November 10th or you won't have these back in time for January. Thank you, Charlotte Halperin, 704-503-0753, chalperin@carolina.rr.com
Solar Power Fund Raiser
Mrs. Kawski’s 4th graders have started a Change for Change Fund-Raiser for Mr. Johnson’s school in Uganda. Their goal is to raise $1000.00 by November 9th so Mr. Johnson can take the money back to his school and purchase two solar power systems. This will allow their boarding students to have electric lights for studying instead of candles.
If you would like to donate to this “Change for Change” campaign, please send money to school with your children for their homeroom teacher to collect. Checks should be made payable to “CIS: Change for Change Campaign.”
